After a one-year interlude with Nederlands Dans Theater (1980/81) — Ana returned to the Cullberg Ballet, where she continued-to create major roles in most dance productions by Mats Ek: Giselle, Carmen, Swan Lake, La Casa de Bernarda Alba — to mention only a few. With these and other works of the Cullberg Ballet, Ana Laguna appeared on practically every major stage in the world.
In 1993 she decided to leave the Cullberg Ballet in order to teach and coach mostly works of Mats Ek - at the Opera de Paris, the Opera de Lyon, the Compania Nacional de Danza (Madrid) and others.
For her artistic achievements, her unique interpretations and forceful physicality, Ana Laguna has been awarded with numerous prizes: Premio Nacional de Danza (Spain) Best interpretation of 'Giselle' (Video Danse — France), Golden Carina Ari Medal (Sweden) Honorary Doctor by the city of Zaragoza — and in the year 2000 — the title of an Honorary Professor by the Swedish Ministry of Culture.
In addition to her career as a dancer, Ana Laguna has played remarkable roles in drama plays — such as Andromscha by Mats Ek.
