Ekaterina Krysanova was born in Moscow, and after completing her training at the Moscow State Academy of Choreography, she joined the Bolshoi Ballet in 2003. Her rehearsal coach at the theatre is Svetlana Adyrkhaeva.
Ms. Krysanova’s repertoire includes leading roles in the classical ballets of 19th and 20th centuries, such as Odette-Odile (Swan Lake), Princess Aurora, Fairy of Audacity (The Sleeping Beauty); Marie (The Nutcracker);Nikia and Gamzatti (La Bayadère);Kitri (Don Quixote); Medora and Gulnare (Le Corsaire);Swanilda (Coppelia); title roles in Giselle, La Sylphide, Raymonda, and Paquita (Grand Pas Classique for the ballet Paquita);Aspiccia (La Fille du Pharaon);Fleur de Lys (Esmeralda); Angela (Marco Spada).
Ms. Krysanova has also danced roles in modern ballets such as Juliet (Romeo and Juliet); Aegina (Spartacus);Lyuska (The Golden Age); Mekhmene Banu (A Legend of Love) – all by Yury Grigorovich; Mireille de Poitiers and Jeanne (The Flames of Paris by A. Ratmansky after V. Vainonen); Rubies and Brilliants in Jewels; Symphony in C;Agon; Serenade; Apollon Musagète (Terpsichore); the Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux – all by George Balanchine; Temptation (Leonide Massine), Passacaille (Roland Petit), Zina and Ballerina (The Bright Stream by Alexei Ratmansky); The Couple in Violet (Russian Seasons by Alexei Ratmansky); the title role in Cinderella by Yury Possokhov and Yuri Borisov; Magrittomania (Yury Possokhov); the soloist in The Upper Room by T. Tharp; the soloist in Misericordes by C. Wheeldon; Chroma (W. McGregor);the first Florine and Coralie (Lost Illusions by A. Ratmansky); and the first Katharina (The Taming of the Shrew by J. C. Maillot).
Ms. Krysanovawas awarded third prize at the Vaganova-Prix International Ballet Competition in 2002 in St. Petersburg, and second prize at the Moscow International Ballet Competition in 2005.
