Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Ludmila Pagliero began her professional ballet studies in 1993 at the Instituto Superior de Arte of the Teatro Colón. She had the privilege to learn from such ballet masters as Mirta Furioso, Rina Valverde, Mario Gallizzi and especially Olga Ferri. In 2003 at the 7th International Ballet Competition of New York she was awarded the Silver Medal and received the Igor Youskevitch Award (a one-year contract with the prestigious American Ballet Theater).
The same year she became the first Argentinean to join the Paris Opera Ballet. In 2007 she was promoted to Coryphée, in 2008 — Sujet and in 2010 — Première Danseuse.
On March 22, 2012, Pagliero was promoted to the prestigious title of Etoile at the end of the performance of Nureyev's La Bayadère in which she danced the role of Gamzatti.
Her repertoire includes the principal and soloist roles in The Nutcracker, La Bayadère, Swan Lake, Don Quixote, The Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella, Giselle, Agon, Serenade, Le Palais de Cristal, Tchaikovsky’s pas de deux, In the Night, Other Dances, Dances at a Gathering, Goldberg Variations,Manon, Onegin, Serait-ce la Mort?, Le Loup, Notre-Dame de Paris, Carmen, Proust ou les Intermittences du Cœur, Suite en Blanc, La Dame au Camélias, La Petite Danseuse de Degas, La Source, Les Enfants du Paradis, Paquita, and La Sylphide.
At the Paris Opera Ballet, she has worked with the choreographers Mats Ek, Anna Teresa de Keersmaeker, Jirí Kylián, William Forsythe, Crystal Pite, and others.
She is regularly invited to perform in international galas and theaters. She performed in Paquitaat the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, in Giselleat the Abay National Theatre and Opera House in Almaty, in La Sylphide at St. Petersburg’s Mariinsky Theater, in La Bayadère at the Theatro Colón and at the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theater.
Pagliera was awarded the PremioKonex by the KonexFoundation in Argentina. In 2014she was awarded the grade of Chevalier (knight) of the French Order of Arts and Letters.
