Zhenxin Zhang

Zhang Zhenxin studied Chinese Dance at the Beijing Dance Academy1997-2003. Between 2003-2007, he specialized in Classical Chinese Dance at the Beijing Dance Academy, graduating with a BA degree. He joined the National Ballet of China that same year. During his study at the academy, he was awarded the Prize of Excellency at classical dance category of the 8th Taoli Cup National Dance Competition in 2006. He has also participated in a series of performances in the academy like Just Dance, Drum, Love under Leifeng Tower, Butterfly Lovers, The Yellow River and Weald.

In 2007, he worked with renowned choreographer, Akram Khan, performing in his contemporary dance piece,'bahok', and touring to over 18 countries and 35 cities around the world. Zhenxin was also selected by European dance magazine'ballettanz' as a 'Best Newcomer 2008'. In 2009 Mr Zhang was invited back as the only Chinese dancer to work with Akram Khan again for Khan's new work Confluence which was a great success both in London and India.

In 2010 he chereographed a modern ballet Close you eyes when it's getting dark which is premiered at the first session of Work Shop organized by National Ballet of China, and got The Best Choreography Award in Work Shop due to it.
